What is Bachelor of Hotel Management (BHM)?

BHM (Bachelor of Hotel Management) is an undergraduate course which deals with the study of numerous fundamentals of hotel management & catering technology. It is a 3 year duration program, which is divided into 6 semesters. Bachelor of Hotel Management adorns students with adequate knowledge and skills to efficiently carry out the administrative operations of hotels & support their service departments. It focuses on theory and projects revolving around the different aspects of the Hotel industry. The course incorporates topics such as methods of cooking, food and beverage industry, lodging and facilities management, event management and tourism industry etc. Students are also taught skills such as interpersonal skills including communication skills, negotiation and working as a team. The average fee for this course ranges from INR 3.5 lakh to INR 11 lakh.

What is the difference between BHM and BHMCT?

Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (BHMCT) and a Bachelor of Hotel Management (BHM) have more or less the same scope. However, BHMCT has a wider reach as compared to BHM. BHMCT is usually of four years duration and covers topics related to hotel operations as well as catering. On the other hand, BHM is of three years duration and covers only hotel operations by and large.

What can I do after the BHM course?

After completing the BHM course, one can either apply for a job in the field of hospitality and travel or they can even pursue higher education.
